“Husbands and wives should have separate interests, cultivate different sets of friends and not impose on the other. You can’t spend a lifetime breathing down each other’s necks. We are very, very different people and yet somehow we fed off those varied differences and instead of separating us, it has made the whole bond a lot stronger.” - Paul Newman

I hope to be at least half as beautiful as she does on my wedding day.

Rachel: random but CM is engaged…
(I proceed to search on Facebook)
Susan: Whoa to JC?! If you told those two people that they would end up getting married when they were in high school, they would have laughed in our faces!
Rachel: Righttttt? Crazyyyy
Susan: So crazy. Now, I’m just wondering who the hell I’m going to end up with. Damn.
(side note: these two people went to the same high school as us and they were in two completely different cliques and never were even acquaintances)
This guy dated one of the prettiest, smartest and highly-motivated girl in high school, yet he treated her like crap back then. And he’s done it to more than one girl too. And don’t get me wrong, the girl he’s engaged to is not bad either…
“and him… he’s dating that one girl… they seem pretty serious. but i think he could do better.”
“i think he’s just settling”
“yknow, i think we all settle at some point…”
and that’s kinda sad, ain’t it? when we all just settle because we “should”… because its that time to… but are we happy? are we satisfied? did we do our best and get what we wanted? probably not. but we’re happy enough with what we have RIGHT NOW. and when that “right now” is 26, 27, 28+ years old, that’s what you stick with. because by then, you NEED to be stable. you WANT to be stable. and if what you have at that moment is “good enough”, then you keep it.
God forbid, that is the one thing I am afraid of: settling because I’m too worried about being alone. Just for the sake of being stable, safe, secure.
I really hope that I won’t be 35 and not married.
My God, I am only 20 years old and I am already worrying about this sort of thing.
That’s just alarming disturbing.
“It’s pronounced SAY-OCEAN.
And it’s a Chinese proverb from the 15th and 16th centuries. It means ‘small heart’. Fathers used to marry off their youngest sons for money and used to tell them that they weren’t marrying for love, that their wife doesn’t matter. She could die at anytime so don’t get attached. They had to love with caution and raise their sons to be cold and unfeeling as well. I found it in the 8th grade and loved it, I used to name all my old bands that and write songs about it.”
Also, “saosin” is actually spelt “xiao xin” in correct Chinese (pinyin), and pronounced “shaow shin”. It also means “be careful” in Chinese.
